Thursday 2nd October

2.15pm Brander Library – Book Festival Opening by Joanna Strathdee, local councillor for Huntly, Strathbogie & Howe of Alford

2.15pm – 6pm Brander Library – George MacDonald in the Brander Museum.  A selection of original manuscripts, letters and photo albums of Huntly’s own internationally renowned fantasy writer. FREE EVENT

2.15pm – 3.30pm Brander Library – Celebrate National Poetry Day with Haworth Hodgkinson, poet, composer and musician, and pupils of the Gordon Schools. FREE EVENT

4pm – 4.30pm Brander Library –  Doric Poetry Event with Margaret Grant, the Huntly Makar, and Phyllis Goodall. FREE EVENT

5pm – 6pm Brander Library – Open Poetry Session. FREE EVENT

7.30pm – 8.30pm OAP Hall – Blossom – What Scotland Needs to Flourish talk with Lesley Riddoch. Tickets £7 on sale soon!

Friday 3rd October

10 am – 10.45am Brander Library – Writing Spooky Stories with Dawn Finch, for ages 11 – 13. FREE EVENT

11.30am – 12.15pm Brander Library – The Light and Dark of the Land interactive session exploring stories and legends from Scotland for ages 9 – 11 with Grace Banks. FREE EVENT

2.30pm – 3.30pm Brander Library – Little Egypt talk with Lesley Glaister about her Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize-winning novel. Tickets £3, on sale soon!

4.30pm – 5.30pm Brander Library – The Light and Dark of the Land interactive session exploring stories and legends from Scotland for all ages with Grace Banks. Tickets £3, on sale soon!

7.30pm – 8.30pm  OAP Hall – Hypocraty talk with Stuart MacBride. Tickets £7, on sale soon!

Saturday 4th October

10am – 10.45am Brander Library – Monster Storytelling with Dawn Finch for 7 to 9 year-olds – parents encouraged to take part! FREE EVENT

10am – 12 noon Brander Library – Workshop: Self-Editing for Novelists with award-winning crime writer Allan Guthrie. Tickets £10, on sale soon!

1pm – 2pm Brander Library – Make a Book Bag with Huntly Crafters (for the over 7′s) Tickets £3 (includes materials & refreshments) on sale soon!

3pm – 6pm Brander Library - Altered Books Workshop with Isabella Buenez. Tickets £12, on sale soon!

4pm – 5pm Brander Library – A Huntly Loon Goes to War talk with Andrew Ferguson about the life of local man Charles Leslie Anderson after the first World War. FREE EVENT

7pm -8pm Brander Library - Huntly Writers Flash Their Fiction. Come and be entertained by readings from the local writers’ group. Free event  followed by refreshments.

Sunday 5th October

10am – 1pm Brander Library - Paper Art  Workshop with Isabella Buenez. Tickets £12, on sale soon!

2.30pm – 3.30pm Brander Library – Trust reading and discussion with novelist Ajay Close

5pm – 6pm Brander Library – Stuart MacBride Book Club. Tickets £10, on sale soon!
